AdReview is changing. After 15 years as a leading industry commentator and awards show that rewards Advertising agencies for excellence, the focus has shifted to the business of marketing. This is now a service offered to marketers, and ad agencies are of course included as a vital part of the marketing mix.

Adreview Marketing 2015 is both a survey of agency performance and an awards platform different from any you have seen before. The questionnaires serve two purposes. The first and most important is to gather data which we will use to generate our Agency Performance Tables. So, even if you have no expectation of winning an award, please fill in and return the questionnaire, so that we can continue to provide this valuable data for use by the marketing industry.

The second purpose is to provide a solid underpinning to our awards.

And now, about the Awards

The general criteria for all awards are the following:

  • The key awards as you have always known them will stay, but now we have added a number of categories that acknowledge effective marketing and the importance of the client/agency relationship in producing great work.
  • The Awards are divided into two categories – Agency Awards and Effective Marketing Awards.
  • Winners are chosen for delivering the best combination of professional and business performance.
  • The primary consideration is the effectiveness of the marketing campaigns of advertisers and advertising agencies. We examine the calibre and volume of new business, revenue growth (where figures are available), a motivation of candidate’s achievements, and results.
  • Agencies are evaluated as business tools for marketers.
  • Creative achievements are an important element of this. We consider a range of local and international creative competitions, using our own points system to create a level playing field for comparison purposes.
  • Effectiveness can also be measured by the Apex Awards and the liking indicator of Millward Brown.
  • In the case of the Effective Marketing Awards, the awards are made jointly to the agency and client team.The agency must enter on behalf of the combined marketing (client) and advertising team.
  • There will be one winner per category, plus a number of A List nominations. The A List will comprise operational units (agencies or marketing departments) that have demonstrated the ability to produce outstanding work as a matter of routine. Apart from the winner of each category, they will not be ranked. They are all assumed to be the best at what they do. The A List is the best of the best.

    This award is chosen from the winning agencies in all the other agency categories.

    This award recognises the large advertising and marketing agency that has demonstrated billings growth, exceptional creativity as shown through awards wins, and account gains.

    This award recognises the mid-sized advertising and marketing agency that demonstrates billings growth, exceptional creativity as shown through awards wins, and account gains.

    This award recognises the small advertising and marketing agency that has demonstrated billings growth, exceptional creativity as shown through awards wins, and account gains.

  5. Digitally Integrated Agency of the Year
    In recognition of the undoubted influence of digital on all aspects of advertising and marketing, this award will go to the agency that best demonstrates digital integration in all work.

  6. PR Consultancy of the Year
    Aimed at the PR Consultancy that has performed best over the last year. It rewards consistent performance throughout the year and considers relationships with clients and partners, success of campaigns launched throughout the year, growth of billings and pitch wins.

  7. Branding and Design Agency of the Year
    Award will go to the branding and design agency with the best overall performance for the year. Entries will be judged by creative awards, campaign integration, billings and growth.

  8. Media Agency of the Year
    This award recognises outstanding performance by media planning or buying agency. The award will be judged on growth, billings and account gains.

  9. Breakthrough Agency of the Year
    This award will be judged according to standout performance from a creative and business perspective in the last year. It is open to any company, of any size, that falls within previous categories – design, digital, advertising, media, PR, schools, etc.

  10. Advertising School of the Year
    In acknowledging the role that schools play in the future or our industry, this award recognises the school that has made the most meaningful contribution in the last year. Entries will be judged by a number of criteria such as creative performance by students, innovative approach to teaching and the ability to stay relevant in the changing industry. To aid this, feedback from agencies where students have interned will be helpful. Entries to be submitted by schools, colleges, universities and such, but citations from agencies will also influence judgement.

Effective Marketing Awards

These awards recognise the importance of a cooperative and productive relationship between all parties to achieve great work. They are joint awards between client and agency.

  1. Marketing Team of the Year
    This award recognises the marketing team, from the client side and agency side, whose combined efforts have contributed most to the growth and success of their brand or a campaign. The award can be nominated by the advertising agency or the client.

  2. B2C Campaign of the Year
    This award recognises campaigns aimed at the consumer that have influenced the opinions of the target market, prompting then to act. Campaigns will be judged on understanding of target market, strong strategic insights and the creative response to those insights.

  3. B2B Campaign of the Year
    This category is open to business targeted campaigns that have influenced the opinion or purchasing behaviour business decision makers. The winner will demonstrate an intelligent use of media channels to efficiently target the communication, strong strategic insights, as well as a creative approach or central idea.

  4. Live Activation or Experiential Campaign of the Year
    Rewards the best use of a live event to promote or launch a product or brand. It can be a single event that shows clear insight into the target market and a sound engagement strategy, or be linked to a larger campaign. It can include activations, flash mobs, events or any other live activation.

  5. Best Public Relations Campaign
    This award seeks to recognise the growing role of Public Relations in the modern marketing context. It will be awarded to a communications or advertising campaign that is PR-led.

  6. Best Digitally Integrated Campaign
    This category rewards campaigns that have integrated digital seamlessly into the campaign. It covers all digital media, from web, mobile, applications, gaming and search and is looking for great examples of interaction using digital media’s unique properties.

  7. Advertising Strategy of the Year
    This award achnowledges the importance of strategy in the success of a creative campaign. It is open to agencies or clients who have shown exceptional understanding of their target market and strategic insights that affect consumer behavior.

  8. Media Planning and Buying Strategy of the Year
    Recognises innovative use of media to promote a campaign or single piece of communication. The campaign must demonstrate a strong understanding of the target market as well as a natural but innovative extension of the campaign.

  9. Sponsorship Strategy of the Year
    This award seeks to recognise the innovative use of sponsorship to promote a product or brand. The winner can be a single event or part of a bigger ongoing campaign. The winner will have demonstrated a 360 approach to the sponsorship, maximising the sponsorship opportunity.
